Who hasn't heard of Mahatma Gandhi. He was of course the major political and spiritual leader of India and it's independence movement. His views on peace, non-violence and conflict resolution were such that he believed violence to be a foolish weapon which created more problems than it solved and he firmly believed it left behind a trail of hatred and bitterness. However, 60 years to the year after his death it would appear that modern governments have erased from memory the principles that Gandhi worked so hard for - we only have to look at the crises in The Middle East, Iraq and Afghanistan to be sure of that.
